Spark Community dedicates Adult Recreation Area April 22

HEBER SPRINGS — Spark Community will dedicate its new Adult Recreation Area in memory of Bonnie Kay Buerkle-Belcher at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22. Buerkle-Belcher is remembered as a woman whose compassion, generosity, and commitment to others left a lasting mark on the community.

“Bonnie Kay Buerkle-Belcher embodied the spirit of service and care that Spark Community strives to provide every day,” said Amy Strackbein, director of communication for Spark Community of North Central Arkansas. “Dedicating this space in her memory allows her legacy of kindness and community support to continue impacting lives for years to come.”

The newly dedicated recreation area will provide adults with disabilities a welcoming space to gather, socialize, and participate in meaningful recreational activities designed to promote independence, well-being and connection. The space reflects Spark Community’s mission to create opportunities where individuals of all abilities can thrive.

The Adult Recreation Area will host a variety of programs, including Special Olympics practices, wellness activities, and games for Spark Community’s Adult Clients. These experiences help participants build friendships, develop life skills, and engage in meaningful ways beyond traditional therapy settings.

“Spark Community extends its gratitude to Ms. Bonnie Kay, who helped make the Adult Recreation Area possible,” Strackbein said. “Her support ensures that adults with disabilities have a place where they are welcomed, valued and empowered.
