27 Aug 2011 Rose Bud: Ramblers fighting for their first playoff berth
The Rose Bud Ramblers (2-8) were slowed by many injuries in 2010, but they return 15 starters this fall and seek their first playoff berth.
Senior quarterback Nick Cartwright (5-10, 160) passed for 2,169 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. Rose Bud will also add promoted sophomore Christian Reynolds (6-2, 190) to the mix, trying its luck at a two-quarterback system. Reynolds passed for 30 touchdowns over the past two seasons with the junior high squad.
The Ramblers lost all-league receivers Braden Irwin (961 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010) and Jacob Petersen (1,012 yards and seven touchdowns in 2010) to graduation, but will attempt to fill the gaps with younger talent. Juniors Spencer Starkey (5-7, 160), Jessie Bailey (5-8, 170) and Brett Caples (5-8, 170) provide options while classmate A.J. Hillman (5-9, 140) returns after missing seven games in 2010 with a broken ankle.
Junior Coleton Greninger (5-7, 150) ran for almost 500 yards a year ago and will be assisted in the backfield by promoted classmate Dillon Reesnes (5-10, 180). Reesnes rushed for more than 2,000 yards in junior high. Cole Robertson (5-9, 170) will play fullback. Senior defensive linemen Travis Gardner (5-8, 190) and Raymond Eddy (5-9, 185) should put pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Senior Ethan Kurck (6-0, 210) recorded more than 90 tackles in 2010 at middle linebacker.
