Ricky Skaggs, Barbara Fairchild and others to perform at UCA

Bluegrass legend, country music star, gospel entertainer and Grammy award winner Ricky Skaggs and his wife Sharon White, along with Barbara Fairchild and many others, will perform with Sen. Jason Rapert at “Stand Up America” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas.

“I am so honored to have these talented folks come and support our event,” said Rapert. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a special evening with Ricky Skaggs and Barbara Fairchild to focus on faith, family values and freedom.”

Ricky Skaggs has won 14 Grammy Awards and is an icon in the bluegrass music world with a career spanning 55 years. Joining him on stage is his wife of more than 30 years, from the country vocal group The Whites.

Fairchild, an Arkansas native, is a member of both the Arkansas and Gospel music hall of fames. Performing with husband Roy Morris, this Branson-based duo will add song, storytelling and inspiration to this special event.

Rapert will share the stage with these legends, playing the fiddle and sharing a special message for an exciting night of bluegrass, country and gospel music for a patriotic celebration.

The Family Research Council FRCAction 2014 Standing for the American Family Bus Tour will be on hand with executive director Josh Duggar of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting.”

Special guests Grace Justified, a gospel music group that grew out of the Zion Temple Church of God in Christ worship team, will also be performing.  Grace Justified was nominated for three Gospel Music Love Awards presented by Angelic Records.

“This is a perfect event for veterans, church groups and anyone wanting to come together and show their patriotism and pride in traditional American values,” Rapert said.

Tickets can be purchased online at uca.edu/tickets or by calling the Reynolds Box Office 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 501.450.3265.
