Red Curtain Theatre to celebrate new location with ribbon-cutting

On Thursday, Sept. 22, Red Curtain Theatre will celebrate its growth with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new location at 913 Oak St. in Downtown Conway. The ribbon-cutting will kick off at 5 p.m., followed by a reception.

“We are thrilled about our new home in the heart of Downtown Conway and are honored to be a part of the arts community here,” said Kristen Sherman, executive director and owner. “The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Red Curtain Theatre gives the public an opportunity to learn more about who we are and what we offer through RCT.”

Red Curtain Theatre is owned and operated by Sherman, Amber Welch and Johnny Passmore.  They offer many exciting opportunities for the community including theatrical productions, arts education and children’s workshops.

This year, Red Curtain presented a season of six main stage productions that ranged from popular Broadway musicals to time honored classics. Among the titles were “The Music Man,” “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” and “The Addams Family.”

Individual coaching sessions and lessons are also being held daily at the theatre. Offerings include acting coaching, vocal coaching and lessons in a variety of musical instruments. Some of the distinguished instructors include Dr. Martha Antolik, who has been cited in Arkansas Times as Soloist of the Year for her performance with the Arkansas Symphony in Verdi Requiem, and Jenny Ruud, graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy with a bachelor’s of fine arts in musical theatre from the New School University in New York City.
