Person of the Month: Maria Edwards

Work: Executive director of Life Choices. 

Community activities: Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, Conway Rotary Club, vice chairman of the Arkansas Pregnancy Care Centers Association.

Church activities: Member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Family: Wonderful family spread throughout the 501, especially niece (Lydia) and nephew (Luke).

Education: Bachelor of science degree in Christian counseling from Central Baptist College; master’s degree in Christian education from Dallas Theological Seminary. 

Last book you read: “A Grief Observed” by CS Lewis.

Favorite book: “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen.

Favorite meal: My mom’s chicken and dumplings.

Most cherished possession: My closet of quilts, handmade by my grandmothers and great-grandmothers.

Most enjoyed weekend activity: Spending time with my family and friends, especially shopping with the girls.

Favorite quote: “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.” — Mother Theresa. 

No. 1 vacation spot: Alaska. 

Favorite place in Arkansas: Toss up between Mount Magazine and my Meme’s house in Greenbrier.

What do you love about living in the 501: The wonderful people who value faith and family.

Maria Edwards, executive director of Life Choices, will be honored by Central Baptist College as the 2013 Outstanding Young Alumnus during homecoming festivities in February.

 

Life Choices is a faith-based non-profit, which has existed in Faulkner County for more than 30 years. The center provides free pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, pregnancy option information, as well as parenting classes and material assistance.
