Pat Boone concert at UCA

The concert at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall is set for 2 p.m. Sunday.

Boone, perhaps best known as the white-shoed rock ‘n’ roll singer of the 1950s, had a run of chart success during that decade that rivaled Elvis Presley’s. Among his hits were versions of Fats Domino’s “Ain’t That a Shame”, Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” and “Long Tall Sally.” He is the No. 10 all-time top recording Billboard artist.

His career has also included stints as an actor, television host, producer, songwriter, author, motivational speaker and radio personality. One of his four daughters, Debby Boone, topped the charts in 1977 with “You Light Up My Life.”

The UCA concert will include some of Boone’s classics as well as holiday favorites, when he will be joined by the 35-member Central Arkansas Children’s Choir, under the direction of UCA assistant professors of music Ryan Fisher and Paige Rose.

"We are so excited to have the opportunity to sing with the legendary singer, Pat Boone,” Fisher said. “Although our students were not around during the height of Boone’s career, I’m sure their parents and grandparents will be thrilled to see them on stage with a former teen heartthrob."

The Central Arkansas Children’s Choir is a community treble choir for singers in grades 4 through 9.  It is affiliated with the University of Central Arkansas Community School of Music.  The mission of the choir is to promote musical literacy and performance by providing a challenging, high quality choral experience for its members and to enrich the lives of youth from all religious, racial, cultural and economic backgrounds.
