Nighthawk women end season early

HOT SPRINGS– The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk women’s basketball team has discontinued the remaining 2023-24 season due to injuries and departures in the program.

As of January 5, the team had five players available for competition. After an evaluation of the situation, it was determined to be in the best interest and well-being of the student-athletes and coaches to no longer compete with such a depleted roster. NPC concludes its season at 1-6.

“After much deliberation and effort to continue our women’s basketball season this spring, we determined that it would be unsafe to do so with our current roster size,” NPC Athletic Director Rich Thompson said. “We have notified the NJCAA and Region 2 Athletics of our withdrawal from this current season and are extremely proud of our student-athletes and thank them for their efforts and dedication over the fall semester.”

NPC remains optimistic about the future of its women’s basketball program and anticipates a full women’s basketball team and schedule for the 2024-25 schedule.
