MOUNTAIN PINE: Red Devils building on young talent

Conference: 7-2A
Coach: Sam Counce
’16 Record: 0-10

The Mountain Pine Red Devils were forced to forfeit eight of their games last fall due to low numbers. Second-year head coach Sam Counce looks to build the program behind young playmakers this fall.

Sophomore Collin Smith takes over the quarterback role after moving up from junior high. Seniors Chad Graves and Dafavioun Haywood and junior LeShawn Reed build out a solid offensive backfield for the Red Devils’ Wing T offense. Juniors Josh Walpole and Kayden Anzaldua look to lead the receivers. Seniors Matt Herron, Josh Lynch and Carter Chapman and juniors Kaden Wilcox and Jason Bennett project as starters on the offensive line.

Senior Colton Buckner, Cobra Barnett, Herron and Wilcox lead the defensive line rotation. Chapman, Reed and sophomores Hayden Barnes and Jeremiah Walker swap at linebacker. Walpole, Haywood, Graves and junior Jaon Smith start in the secondary.
