Morrilton’s eclipse celebration begins Friday; volunteers needed

MORRILTON — Main Street Morrilton is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to assist with the downtown community festival “Everyone Under the Sun Solar Eclipse Totality Party.” The festival is scheduled to take place April 5-7, from 4 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 8, at Holyfield Place, located at 120 N. Moose St.

The festival will offer entertainment and activities to complement this inspiring celestial event. Performers include Kordsmeier Music on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.; Howard & Skye, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.; Townsend, Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.; and St. Cecelia Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Additionally, Peace of Mine Yoga will offer free yoga on the grass – Sun Salutations, on Sunday starting at 6 p.m. 

Countdown to totality activities will commence at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 8.

A selection of local craft and food vendors will also be set up throughout the weekend, and STEM activities will be scheduled at various times during the event. Follow ‘Main Street Morrilton’ on Facebook for up-to-date information.

As the community prepares for this unforgettable occasion, Main Street Morrilton seeks volunteers to assist in various capacities. Opportunities are open to adults and high school students, and no special skills are required. Volunteers will receive a complimentary T-shirt. Examples include:

  • Event set-up and tear-down: Help prepare the festival grounds by setting up vendor spaces before the festival, ensuring everything is in place, and assisting with tearing down and cleaning up afterward.
  • Ground Maintenance: Help keep the grounds clean by picking up trash and maintaining cleanliness throughout the event.
  • Guest Services: Provide attendees with event schedules, maps, and information about vendors, performances, and activities.
  • Social Media Promotion: Promote the event on social media platforms, share updates during the festival, and engage with attendees online.

Volunteers are encouraged to select the days and time slots that suit their availability at arkeclipse.com.

Main Street Morrilton is dedicated to promoting downtown Morrilton as the hub of community life, instillingcommunity spirit through various events, and promoting historical awareness, preservation and economic vitality.
