31 May 2023 Mikkelsen named ITA Rookie of the Year

SEARCY — Harding’s Cian Mikkelsen received the ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year award Tuesday.

Mikkelsen, a native of Zoetermeer, Netherlands, had an 8-4 singles record but did his best work on the doubles court, where he went 15-0 with teammate Cas de Ruiter. They became the first Harding tennis players ever to go undefeated with 15 or more matches.

Mikkelsen and de Ruiter ranked 12th nationally in Division II doubles.

Mikkelsen is Harding’s third ITA Rookie of the Year, joining Morgan Salvan (2018) and Dani Ortiz (2020).
