Little Rock’s track and field opens OVC Championship action today

CHARLESTON, Ill. — The men’s and women’s track and field teams open the first day of the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships on Thursday in Charleston, Ill.  Live stats as well as live broadcast of the running events will be available all three days.

The meet, hosted by Eastern Illinois, will begin today at 9 a.m. with the heptathlon 100m hurdles.  The field events will start at 1 p.m. with the women’s hammer, while the running events start at 5 p.m. with the women’s 400m hurdles prelims.

The Trojans enter the outdoor championship after the men won their program’s first-ever indoor title and the women’s program placed second.  Both teams finished second place at the OVC Outdoor Championships last season.

Little Rock’s men’s program is vying for the program’s first-ever outdoor title as a Division I program.  The only outdoor conference title for the women’s program was in 1996 as the Trojans secured a Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championship.
