Kimberly-Clark prepares boxes for military serving overseas

by Steve Marts

The Conway Facility SALUTE volunteers at Kimberly-Clark recently packed and shipped 156 care packages to the men and women of the 1038th Engineering/Construction Company based out of North Little Rock.

SALUTE is a Kimberly-Clark sponsored group with a mission to strengthen K-C and local communities by harnessing the unique experiences of veterans and the power of passionate supporters of veteran causes.

The purpose of this event was to honor troops with "essentials for a better life" by sending needed personal care products. The Conway team wanted to help make the lives of local service men and women a little more normal.

Team members took home USPS postal boxes labeled "male" or "female" and filled them with $50 of supplies including K-C essentials such as KLEENEX tissue and personal hygiene products and snack foods. Some packed their boxes with local news such as 501 LIFE. The SALUTE committee topped off the boxes with additional Kimberly-Clark goods.

In all, about 10 employees helped to pack and deliver the care packages to the local post office to be shipped to troops deployed to Kuwait. This was a total team effort by our SALUTE team and employees at the Conway facility. There are 36 SALUTE members and the group looks for new projects to support men and woman who serve the country and their families who sacrifice so much to protect and provide the freedoms enjoyed in the U.S.

In this project, 156 care packages were packed and sent from the employees of the Conway manufacturing facility.
