Jacob's Place charity banquet

Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission will host its annual “Empower the Homeless” banquet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Valley Baptist Church, 3328 Hwy. 36 West. The silent auction will take place from 5:45 to 6:25 p.m.

According to banquet chair Phyllis Worley, honorees Larry and Janett Crain will be recognized for their generosity to the mission of Jacob’s Place. Also, guest of honor and keynote speaker Muskie Harris will talk about the importance of volunteering and share his experience serving non-profit organizations.

“Our community has numerous families with children who are finding themselves without a place to live due to various life circumstances,” Worley said. “Regardless of the cause, children do not need to be homeless. Our solution is to empower the parents. Funds raised through the banquet will be used to provide housing and counseling services to current and future residents of Jacob’s Place.”

After speaking at the dinner last year, Pat Bradley will serve as the emcee for this year’s dinner. The former Arkansas Razorbacks basketball all-star set University of Arkansas and Southeastern Conference (SEC) all-time records for three-point goals made and attempted. Bradley now works as a sports radio talk show co-host on 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock.

There are multiple levels of giving available this year starting with table sponsorships at $500, which includes eight tickets and recognition during the dinner. Also, the Jacob’s Place Partner package at $250 includes four tickets, and the Jacob’s Place Friend package at $150 includes two tickets. Individual tickets are $25.
