Hot offense guides CBC past Harris-Stowe on homecoming

CONWAY — Looking for their fourth straight victory, Central Baptist College men’s basketball hosted the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State last Saturday in an American Midwest Conference tilt for homecoming inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (13-4, 4-0 AMC) trailed only once and made over half their shots, putting up a season-high 54 first half points to win 95-49 over HSSU (5-14, 0-4 AMC).

Kyle Harding, Deshawn Corprew and Devin Foster all finished in double figures scoring for the Mustangs, who tied a season-high for made threes. CBC was plus-eight on the glass and outscored the HSSU reserves 57-14.

GAME FLOW

The first 4:32 saw the two teams tied three times and traded the lead twice. A free throw from Foster with 15:28 left in the first half to complete a three-point play, gave CBC a lead they would never relinquish, leading 54-28 at the break. The Mustangs would take a 24-point lead in the first 1:10 of the second half before an alley oop from Sage Borbon to SaVaughn Smith sparked a 7-0 run and put the Mustangs up by 33 with 15:32 remaining. The lead continued to grow all the way to the final margin of victory, 46 points.

  • The Mustangs are now 13-8 against the Hornets and have won three in a row and six out of the last seven
  • 49 points is the largest margin of victory ever against HSSU and 95 points is tied for the third most scored against HSSU
  • Harding had 19 off the bench and made a career-high five threes
