Harding’s Linda Thompson receives special recognition

Director of the Harding University McNair Program Linda Thompson recently received the Henry Young Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution from the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE).

“To say I was humbled would be an understatement,” Thompson said. “I was thrilled, of course, and it was a highlight of a very difficult year for me, physically. It was wonderful to be back at NADE this year and to publicly receive the plaque as well as to participate fully in the conference again.”

A member of NADE since 1986, Thompson served as president from 1999-2001. She also has filled roles such as NADE certification and accreditation council chair, co-chair for the national conference, awards committee member and publications committee member.

Thompson began working at the University in 1986 where she initiated and directed the ADVANCE Program, the Learning Resources Center, the TRIO Student Support Services Program and the McNair Scholars Program.
