Harding Academy plans addition, renovation projects

Harding Academy recently broke ground on an addition and renovations to its current facility. The $6 million project will help eliminate the need for portable classrooms currently in use as well as create room for growth.

“We appreciate Harding University President Bruce McLarty and the board of trustees’ approval of this expansion project,” said Academy Superintendent James Simmons. “We are looking forward to this much needed addition.”

The project will add an elementary P.E. area, elementary library, six elementary classrooms, four junior high classrooms and two junior high science labs. A second stage of the project will relocate elementary and high school administrative offices and renovate the existing library for high school use.

The projected completion date for the addition is June 15, 2018, and Aug. 1, 2018, for the renovations.
