Greenbrier wrestling team wins state championship

Four years into its wrestling program, the Greenbrier High School squad earned a state championship last weekend.

The team had a dual meet record of 28-5 this year.

Members of the team include ninth-graders Jeremiah Fields, Landon Mazur (fifth place); sophomores Sean Harlan (sixth place), Rylan Howard (state champion, all state), Justin Watson, Drew Clark, Drew McCoy (second place, all state), Chris Whisenant (state champion, all state); juniors Daniel Symons, Matthew Wrightam, Grayson Powell (fourth place), Caleb Price, Will Pittman; seniors Wyatt Daniel (second place, all state), Nathan Browning (second place, all state), Hunter Glover (third place, all state), Brady McCoy (second place, all state), Zane Young (fifth place) and Colton Harding (second place , all state).

Greenbrier High’s Rylan Howard earned a state championship in the 132 pound weight class

Managers are senior Kevin Carter and junior Stormy Dryer.

The team is coached by Jayson Howard, Eric Symons and Spencer Moore.

Greenbrier High’s Chris Whisenant earned a state championship in the 113 pound weight class.
