Glen Rose: ‘Expectation of winning’ continues

The Beavers have had an impressive run the past five years, including a state championship in 2007. But last fall, Glen Rose racked up a new accomplishment.

“We went undefeated in the regular season – the first time ever,” coach Mark Kehner said.

The Beavers averaged 46.7 points per game in the regular season and put up more than 50 points in five games. Glen Rose earned a first-round bye in the playoffs, beat Fordyce, 28-27, in the second round and fell against West Fork, 27-7, in the third round.

“We lost a 2,500-yard rusher, but this is the first time we will have our starting quarterback returning since 2007,” Kehner said.

That quarterback is junior Collin Hunter (5-11, 175), who is one of only three returning starters on offense.

Four starters return on defense – all linebackers – led by seniors Brandon Kettell (5-10, 165) and Dalton Furman (5-9, 175).

“We have had a winning tradition for five years with eight- or nine-win seasons each year,” Kehner said. “The expectation of winning is strong. This year we face a lack of experience.”
