Frozen Feet 5K on Dec. 14

The second annual Frozen Feet 5K Run/Walk, hosted by the Junior Auxiliary of Conway, will be held Saturday, Dec. 14.

This year, the Frozen Feet 5K will be dedicated “In Loving Memory of Beloved JA Associate Member Mandie Hoelscher” who passed away earlier this year. Mandie was an avid runner, having completed more than a dozen half marathons, two marathons and several triathlons. She was also a very active volunteer in the Conway community and chapter.

“She loved working with children, especially through projects like Junior Auxiliary’s annual Safety Town program for children entering kindergarten,” said JA President Heather Swanson. “The Hoelscher Family was passionate about helping the homeless and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and it is the hope of Conway Junior Auxiliary to put the proceeds from this year’s 5K back into our community through programs like these that were so dear to Mandie’s heart.”

The race will be held on a certified course starting along the perimeter of the Conway High School (2300 Prince St.) football stadium, running through parts of historic Conway before heading back to finish at the high school.

Costumes, jingle bells, hot chocolate and jolly old St. Nick are just a few reasons this event will be full of holiday spirit and fun for children and adults of all ages.

Junior Auxiliary of Conway is the Faulkner County chapter of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries. JA is a non-profit organization focused on rendering charitable services which benefit the community. The main emphasis is on the welfare, education and development of children in the Faulkner County area. Members assist and support the community by donating time, funding service projects and cooperating with other civic organizations.

Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome and will receive a Frozen Feet 5K T-shirt, a goodie bag of treats and will enjoy pre- and post-race snacks. Awards will be given for the top three male and female participants in each age division and the top three overall male and female participants.
