Fire station moves to Burns Park

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The North Little Rock Fire Department is excited to announce the new location of Fire Station 8 at 501 West Military Drive in Burns Park. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30 in Burns Park near Military Drive and Joe K Poch Road (across from the Hospitality House).

Plans for the future Burns Park Fire Station 8 began back in 2018. The station has a cost of $2.8 million and will be completely funded by the current “half penny” approved by voters in 2017. The new station will be a tremendous upgrade to the current one at 6550 MacArthur Dr., and will ensure the North Little Rock Firefighters will be able to respond and service its fire district faster and more efficiently.

The future Station 8 will be constructed with decontamination rooms that will form clean and dirty contamination corridors for additional health and safety. It will have four bedrooms, drive-thru bays, and will house part of the department’s hazmat team, bicycle team, and battalion chief’s quarters. In addition, the station will be connected to a North Little Rock Fire Department Memorial that will serve as the department’s place of honor for firefighters lost while on active duty.
