Fairfield Bay plans July 4th festivities

Fairfield Bay will celebrate Fourth of July with a variety of activities including a free concert, parade, car show, golf tournament and fireworks.

“Once again, we invite everyone to come celebrate with us,” said Fairfield Bay Community Club General Manager Rocky Nickles. “There’s so much more to see and do this year. Bring the whole family to one of the best kept secrets in Arkansas!”

Fairfield Bay is known for its patriotism, and nothing says “God bless the USA” quite like a good old-fashioned parade, complete with floats, music, fun and the nation’s colors on proud display. Driving into town through the spectacular, flag-lined main street will create goosebumps, and the sight of the crowd-lined parade route will make you feel like a kid again. The Clydesdales will be on hand thanks to Cowboy Auto Group.

After the parade, a car show is planned at Woodland Mead Park. Crafts and activities for kids are also planned.

At Tom Sawyer Days, individuals will learn about how the settlers lived. There will be storytelling, live music, demonstrations of pioneer crafts and ice-cold lemonade. It will also include a re-enactment of an 1850s village from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Center at the Log Cabin and Museum in Indian Hills. The event is free and open to the public.

On Friday, July 5, fireworks will begin at dark (about 9 p.m.) at the marina. Tune in to Timeless 106.1 FM for fireworks music.

On Saturday, July 6, the Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament is planned. The four-person scramble tournament starts with registration at 7 a.m. It is $50 person/$200 team. Tee time is 8 a.m.

End the weekend listening to a high energy Southern rock band with a blend of Memphis blues. The ShotGunBillys concert is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fairfield Bay Marina.
