Davis Family Lecture on Feb. 9

The University of Central Arkansas College of Business will continues its Davis Family Lecture Series featuring Millie Ward, co-founder and president of Stone Ward.

The lecture is from 1:40 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in the College of Business Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Ward plans to give a talk on "War Stories and Observational Advice from an Old Ad Girl" for the lecture.

Ward is co-founder and president of Stone Ward, a full-service advertising, marketing and public relations agency, with offices in Little Rock and Chicago. Ward established the firm in 1984 with Larry Stone, who today serves as chairman and executive creative director. Ward is at the center of Stone Ward’s ethos of intelligent thinking, committed service and creative drive. She infuses every client and personal encounter with her distinctive energy and insight and in 2014 became the first woman inducted outright into the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame.

Under her leadership, Stone Ward has established a “Building Good” philosophy in which the agency not only gives back to the communities it serves, but also commits itself to excellence and to realizing the potential of Stone Ward’s people, clients and their brands. In its 33 years, Ward and the agency have donated countless hours and resources to support the marketing efforts of both local and global non-profits dedicated to health and human services, education, community, economic development, arts and culture.

Most recently, Ward was appointed to the Little Rock Federal Reserve Board of Directors. She is a board member for the Baptist Health Foundation; Bridge2Rwanda; a founding board member of the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas; a member of the University of Arkansas Walton College of Business Arkansas Executive Forum; a member of the Arkansas State University Chancellor’s Cabinet; and a member of the Arkansas Women’s Forum. She is a former board member of Pulaski County United Way and charter member of the Arkansas Women’s Leadership Forum. She received the 2016 Rotary Club of Little Rock Sydney M. Brooks Fellow and Business and Professional Leader of the Year Award. In 2009, Ward received the Woman of the Year Award by Women & Children First. She and her partner, Larry Stone, were recently notified of their upcoming induction into the 2017 class of the Southwest Advertising Federation Hall of Fame.

The Davis Lecture Series

Through the generosity of Granger and Jan Davis and Milton and Claudia Davis, the Davis Family Lecture Series was created to feature prominent businessmen and women who have made a significant impact on business. As pillars of the UCA and Conway community, the Davis Family’s gift to the UCA Centennial Campaign: New Vision, New Century inspired a lecture series open to all students, faculty, staff, and business community who wish to attend.
