Conway Regional Toy Run scheduled Dec. 16

The 17th Annual Conway Regional Toy Run will be held Saturday, Dec. 16.

Bikers from throughout Arkansas will be in Conway for the event.

Starting at noon, bikers will line up at Landers Toad Suck Harley Davidson, 1110 Collier Dr. At 2 p.m., they will caravan from the dealership to Conway Regional Medical Center, where toys will be delivered. The 2 p.m. arrival time is new this year.

The run is not limited to just bikers; everyone is invited to drive their own vehicles. Anyone can participate as long as they bring a toy.

Toys can be dropped off at the Harley dealership in advance or at the East Lobby of the hopsital prior to Dec. 16. Toys should be new and unwrapped for a child or youth ages six months to 16 years. New this year, the Conway Regional Gift Shop will be open on Saturday, Dec. 16, for any last-minute toy purchases.

"No child should be in the hospital without a toy," said Steve "Painter" Polk, who has been organizing the run since it started in 2000.

The Toy Run collects an assortment of toys for children who are patients in the Pediatrics Unit. Toys are also distributed to children in the Emergency Department as well as in the Women’s Center.

The event is for the whole family. "I encourage everyone to come out and bring their kids," Polk said. To participate in the run, call 501.472.1628. More information can also be found on facebook.com/ConwayRegionalToyRun.
