Conway Regional names McDonald new director of Surgical Services

Tyler McDonald, RN, of Springhill is the new director of surgical services for Conway Regional Health System.

“We are excited to have Tyler leading our surgical services department,” said Angie Longing, RN, chief nursing officer at Conway Regional.

“Tyler is known for his commitment to advancing relationships with physicians and co-workers, and has a personal interest in co-worker engagement as a catalyst to the advancement of quality and safety for the patient.”

The position requires expertise in clinical and business operations of a surgery department that includes eight inpatient operating suites, outpatient surgical services, pre-operative, post-operative and sterile services. Overall, he oversees the work of 104 employees. 

McDonald is also responsible for working with physicians to improve surgical processes and ensure a safe patient environment for surgical procedures. “I am passionate about process improvement and coworker engagement. I believe that the safest patient environment is one in which clinicians have autonomy in their practice, and processes are thoroughly vetted for both efficiency and effectiveness,” said McDonald.

Prior to joining Conway Regional, McDonald spent eight years in leadership positions at CHI-St. Vincent including most recently market director of nursing operations for the health system.

McDonald holds a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Central Arkansas and a master’s degree in health administration from Ohio University.

A native of El Dorado, McDonald and his wife, Kami, have lived in the Conway area since 2004. They have three children.
