Conway Men's Chorus to present WinterSong 2013

From the simple beauty of the ancient canon “Dona Nobis Pacem” to the modern, rhythmical sound of “Lullaby”, the Conway Men’s Chorus will usher in the Christmas season at its annual WinterSong concert with a wide variety of music.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas with free admission and parking. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Under the direction of Sam Huskey, the 55-plus voice group will be presenting its sixteenth winter concert since organizing in 1998. Assistant director for the concert is Jordan Bennett and the piano accompanist is Paul Bradley.

Other selections by the Chorus will include “Sussex Carol,” Thomas Juneau’s “Noel, Sing We Noel!”, Marks & Wagner’s “A Holly Jolly Celebration,” Jeff Funk’s whimsical arrangement of “Russian Dance” from The Nutcracker Suite, and Ruth Elaine Scram’s arrangement of “A Gentleman’s Christmas.” Familiar favorites will include “In the Bleak Midwinter,” “Silent Night, Holy Night,” “Winter Wonderland,” “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night, Holy Night.” There will also be the traditional audience sing-along with seasonal choruses.

Opening for the group on that evening will be VOCA – the Voices of Central Arkansas.
