On Tuesday, May 5, the 60+ member Conway Men’s Chorus will present its annual Spring Concert at 7 p.m. in Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway. Admission and parking are FREE to the public, and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

This approximate hour-long concert is presented as the Chorus’ gift to the community and will feature a wide variety of music from sacred to contemporary, pop to patriotic including the beautiful perennial favorite “Be Still My Soul,” an inspirational new version of the beloved “Amazing Grace,” a mysterious version of the “James Bond Theme,” a unique version of Bob Dylan’s classic “The Times They Are A-Changin’,” a toe-tapping gospel version of “This Little Light of Mine,” the American classic “Shenandoah,” and a fun song called “No More Sailor Songs” to name a few.
In addition, the Diamond State Women’s Chorus will perform as guest performers before the men take the stage. They are a Central Arkansas group of dedicated, auditioned female singers under the direction of Ellen Wiles and accompanist Kayla White. They will sing “Sky Boat Song,” “Ad Astra” and “All Night, All Day.”
Since the Fall of 1998, men of the Conway area have joined together to present a gift of song, free of charge, twice a year to fulfill the overall mission of the Conway Men’s Chorus: to provide the Conway area with the best in men’s choral music expertly performed under skilled leadership and direction, and to help enrich lives in our community by demonstrating and fostering a love of music. This concert marks 28 years of singing.

Since its founding in 1998, the Chorus has performed more than 250 different songs at 50 concerts, with more than 365 men from the Conway area. With no audition requirement, chorus members have been men from high school age into their 80s with a wide range of musical abilities and knowledge from all walks of life, all races, all beliefs, and various fields of past and present employment. Simply, they are men who love to sing in various church choirs and area chorus ensembles and want to give the joy of music to their community.
