Conway Custom Builders named Energy Smart Builder of the Year

Conway Corporation recently named Conway Custom Builders as the 2012 Energy Smart Builder of the Year.

Conway Custom Homes built nine homes recognized by Conway Corporation as being Energy Smart homes in 2012. The builder currently has seven additional homes under construction.

“Four of the homes currently under construction are in partnership with HCR Development,” said Conway Corporation energy efficiency consultant David Avra. “Conway Custom Builders and HCR have built more than 30 Energy Smart homes in Conway since becoming a part of our program in 2009.”

Energy Smart specifications are based on U.S. Department of Energy recommendations. When met, the specifications are reported to reduce a home’s energy usage by 20 to 30 percent over a standard built home.

“Using current utility rates, the average dollar savings associated with building 30 Energy Smart homes in Conway equates to approximately $250,000 over the life expectancy of the energy efficiency improvement measure for all homes combined,” Avra added.

Conway Custom Builders has been building homes in the Conway area for more than 14 years and is owned by Rex Lovelady and Clayton Jones.

Conway Corporation’s Energy Smart program offers residential energy audits, the promotion of energy efficient home construction and a website with helpful information and tools for saving energy. The Energy Smart program is designed to educate customers concerning the benefits of efficiency as a tool for managing energy use and lowering utility bills.
