Conway Christian welcomes new head basketball coach

Conway Christian School recently welcomed Austin Mitchell as head men’s basketball coach for the 2014-2015 school year.

Austin – a son of Gary and Brenda Mitchell in Conway – is an active member of Harlan Park Baptist Church, where his father is the pastor.

Austin graduated with honors from Conway High School in 2008, leading his team to the state basketball finals in the 2007-08 season.

He went on to play at Ouachita Baptist University from 2008-2013. Austin finished as the sixth all-time leading scorer in OBU history with 1,319 career points. The Tigers were the Great American Conference champions in his senior year.

Austin graduated from OBU in 2013 with a bachelor of arts in kinesiology and a minor in business. He has also served at Kanakuk Kamps (Christian/sports camp) for several summers.

"I’m thrilled about the opportunity to help make an impact at CCS spiritually, academically and athletically," Austin said.
