Construction on CHS cafeteria on schedule, under budget

Work on a new cafeteria at Conway High School is on schedule, with completion planned before students return for the fall semester.

According to school district superintendent Dr. Greg Murry, the project is not only on schedule, it is still under budget.

“The project will be completed no later than Aug. 12,” he said.

According to Murry, several other construction projects are taking place at the high school this summer. The Conway High Annex building which houses the foreign language department is being remodeled as well as classrooms in the old gym and the auditorium.

“All of these classrooms are being brought up to the same standards of finishes that the new CHS building has,” he said.

The district is also expanding the band room and re-doing the road on the south side of the campus around the baseball and softball fields and then over to the parking lot by the football field. There is also some remodeling of the restrooms at the football stadium planned.

“We are excited about the completion of Phase Two of our CHS construction project,” said Murry. Phase One involved construction of the new high school, which was completed last summer. “The cafeteria will provide much needed space for lunch as well as after-school activities.  The entire CHS project will be something all members of the Wampus Cats Nation can be proud of.”
