CCS girls win district, qualify for state tourney

Two Conway teams qualified for the 2A Girls State Golf Tournament on Tuesday.

Conway Christian won the three team field by shooting a combined 314 (Leanna Sartain-88, Madison Pelley-110, Katie Jo Henley-116 and Macey Vaught-138). St. Joseph finished second with a combined team score of 358 (Isabella Hartman-112, Caroline Dail-114 and Mary Hartman-132).

Conway Christian’s Leanna Sartain won a playoff hole against Quitman’s Michaela Ball to win Medalist of the District Tournament. Also qualifying for the state tournament was Cydney Tubbs (120), Madison Smothers (122), and Bailey Nahlen (130), all of Bigelow.

The state tournament will be held on Monday, Sept. 29, at Turkey Mountain in Horseshoe Bend.
