CCS girls post wins

The Conway Christian Lady Eagles (4-6, 0-1) recently defeated the Abundant Life Lady Owls in non-conference action by a score of 57-49.

Conway Christian erased a 2 point halftime deficit with an 8-0 run in the third period and held on for the win.


"I thought our freshmen really stepped up tonight and provided a spark for our team. Mary-Morgan Ellis (24 points) really attacked the basket and finished well for us. Lyndi Dather (14 points) was huge for us on the offensive boards,” said coach Jeremy Carson.


Senior Sarah Nekonchuk added 13 points, including 7 in the first period. "Sarah really carried us early, and then iced the game late with some clutch free throws."


For Abundant Life, Lauren McClendon led the way with 27 points.
The Lady Eagles return to conference action on Friday, Jan. 4, when they host the Hector Lady Wildcats. The junior girls play at 5 p.m., with the senior girls following. 
The CCS Junior Lady Eagles (3-5) defeated the Abundant Life Jr. Lady Owls 46-12 in non-conference action in Sherwood. The Lady Eagles used pressure defense en route to a 24-4 halftime lead.

The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Carly Lawrence with 12 points. Adrianna Ferrand added 8 points, while Laila Sulieman, Meagan Pennington and Rhaegen Linn chipped in 6 points apiece.

"This was a much needed win for this young team. They have been working awfully hard in practice on polishing their fundamentals, and it showed tonight. I was really proud of the defensive effort we showed tonight," said Carson.

The Jr. Lady Eagles will play Mayflower in the Faulkner County Junior Tournament at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Mayflower.
