CBC sweeps Harris-Stowe in AMC tilt

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Playing a rescheduled doubleheader, Central Baptist College softball was at Stars Park April 7 for an American Midwest Conference contest. CBC (20-14, 5-1 AMC) swept the doubleheader from HSSU (2-20, 1-13 AMC) by scores of 3-0 and 7-6.

GAME ONE – CBC 3, HSSU 0

The Mustangs scored in the first inning on a groundout by Kori Truelove to make it 1-0. Kinley Johnson brought home a run with a single in the third inning to make it 2-0 and Casi Saunders brought home the final run with a ground out in the fourth inning. Ryleigh Keele went the distance, earning her 10th win by allowing four hits and striking out seven.

GAME TWO – CBC 7, HSSU 6

The Hornets scored two runs in the first inning to lead 2-0 after one. CBC took the lead in the third with runs scoring on a wild pitch and a two-run error to make it 3-2 in the second. Johnson’s fourth home run in the third made it 4-2 and the Mustangs scored three in the fifth on a pair of errors and a stolen base by Sydney Weiser. HSSU scored four in the sixth before Lauren Woodard locked down and earned her fourth win. Woodard threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and six runs (four earned) with four strikeouts.
