CBC plans grand opening for new wrestling center

Central Baptist College athletic director Lyle Middleton and head wrestling coach Ken Prophete recently announced the opening of a new wrestling center for the Mustangs. The center will be the site of a grand opening hosted by the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15.

The 3,750-square-foot center is located at 960 Jeanette Drive in Conway. The main donor for the project is Greg Hatcher of The Hatcher Agency. CBC’s wrestling team will have the building on a three-year lease.

“Words alone cannot express how grateful and thankful I am about the new wrestling center,” said Prophete. “Entering into my eighth season as the head wrestling coach at CBC, it has been a recruiting promise to my wrestlers that we will have a bigger and better (space) and this 2017-18 season we will fulfill that promise.”

Prophete added, “It is a blessing and I give all the glory to God for placing the right people to help make this dream a reality. We plan to make the best of our new opportunity this season in our new wrestling center.”

Wrestling season for the Mustangs begins on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Cumberland, Ky., at the Patriot Open. The first match at Reddin Fieldhouse is Thursday, Nov. 9, against Arkansas Baptist College.
