CARTI to mark anniversary with open house, dedication

Official dedication ceremonies for the new CARTI Cancer Center will be among the highlights of a special 40th anniversary open house scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at the building located at 8901 CARTI Way in Little Rock.

“This is a milestone anniversary for us, and we are excited to commemorate the occasion by dedicating our newest facility,” said Jan Burford, CARTI president and CEO. “We invite the public to tour the building, explore the grounds and enjoy light refreshments and door prizes.”

The CARTI Cancer Center is a 170,000-square-foot, $90 million multi-specialty, patient-focused treatment facility offering medical, surgical and radiation oncol¬ogy and diagnostic radiology, as well as clinics dedicated to imaging, infusion, research, pharmacy and support programs. The center began treating patients on November 2, 2015.

501 LIFE contributor Linda Henderson, working with Art on the Green, has more than 90 photographs taken in Arkansas on display at the new CARTI facility.

“CARTI has been committed to fulfilling its mission of providing the finest quality cancer treatment and compassionate patient care for 40 years now, and we are profoundly proud of the reputation we have earned,” said Burford.

Tracing its roots back to 1968 when four area hospitals came together with a proposal to establish one independent, centralized radiation therapy provider to serve the needs of Arkansas cancer patients, CARTI first opened its doors on April 5, 1976, on the campus of St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.

Forty years later, CARTI is currently the largest not-for-profit network of private practice cancer care specialists in Arkansas, seeing an estimated 20,000 patients per year.

“We are deeply honored and humbled by the number of lives we have been able to touch over the past 40 years, and we truly excited about what the future holds for CARTI and the patients we serve,” said Burford.

CARTI is a not-for-profit, multi-disciplinary cancer care provider offering medical and surgical oncology, diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology at locations throughout the state to provide convenient access for cancer patients. Chemotherapy is offered in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Benton, Clinton, Conway, El Dorado, Heber Springs, Russellville and Stuttgart. Radiation therapy is offered in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Mountain Home and Searcy.

The CARTI Foundation was incorporated in 1983 as a non-profit organization to assist CARTI in meeting the current and future needs of Arkansas cancer patients and their families.
