Cabot head football coach also named athletic director

Cabot Panthers Head Football Coach Scott Reed is also the school’s new athletic director.

The Cabot School District recently announced Cabot Panthers Head Football Coach Scott Reed will also take over as the new athletic director.

The Cabot School District’s Board of Education approved the recommendation in a special school board meeting May 6.

Superintendent Dr. Thurman is excited for Reed to serve in a dual role as head football coach and athletic director. “Coach Reed truly understands the impact that a high quality athletic program can have on our school, community and our student-athletes. He is a role model and is absolutely the right person to lead our athletic program.”

The district will be hiring two assistant athletic directors to work under the leadership of Reed. Current assistant athletic director Kelly Spencer will return to the classroom, a decision that Spencer discussed with Thurman months ago.

Current athletic director Rob Coleman will begin working with Reed on his transition immediately. Coleman is returning to his love of coaching as an assistant football coach under Reed.
