Broadway musical April 29 at UCA

The Broadway musical “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder” is coming to the University of Central Arkansas’s Reynolds Performance Hall as the final performance for the 2017-2018 season.

The show is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29.

“Our final performance of the season is a huge, sensational Broadway hit,” said Amanda Horton, director of Reynolds. “This show recently won the Tony Award for Best Musical, and it’s always exciting to bring a current, fresh, award-winning piece of work to our audience. “

The musical tells the funny story of Monty Navarro, a distant heir to a family fortune who sets out to jump the line of succession by eliminating the eight pesky relatives – all played by one fearless man – who stand in his way. All the while, Monty has to juggle his mistress his fiancée, and the constant threat of landing behind bars. Of course, it will all be worth it if he can slay his way to his inheritance… and be done in time for tea.

“Ticket holders can expect an intriguing plot, humor galore and extravagant costumes and sets,” Horton said.

An NPR critic said he’d “never laughed so hard at a Broadway musical.”
