Blood drive planned Dec. 7

Conway Regional Health System and the Arkansas Blood Institute will host a blood drive on from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 in the Conway Regional Auditorium at 2302 College Ave.

The Conway Regional staff recently reaffirmed the importance of a reliable supply of blood products when a young mother developed internal bleeding shortly after giving birth.

Sixteen blood products were needed to help her through emergency surgery. She went home with her child the same week.

If possible, donors are asked to make appointments online:

Donors can enter a drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card each day of the drive. The Arkansas Blood Institute will also give away long sleeve T-shirts.

The Arkansas Blood Institute is the new provider for blood services at Conway Regional Medical Center. The Oklahoma-based organization supplies blood to 25 other Arkansas hospitals and is the ninth largest non-profit blood center in the country. The blood collected in this area stays here to benefit the community.
