Blood drive at Conway Regional

Conway Regional Medical Center will host an American Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 8, and Wednesday, Sept. 9. The drive will be held in the auditorium from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The Red Cross is making an urgent appeal for more blood donors due to slower than usual blood donations this summer along with growing needs for more blood.

Officials with the Red Cross are taking steps to speed up the process the day of the donation. On that day, donors can go to redcrossblood.org/RapidPass and complete both the Health History check and book reading and print out a copy or save it to their mobile device. Donors can go straight to a recliner for their donation and save half the time. The rapid pass is only valid the day of the donation.

Donors are encouraged to make appointments at redcrossblood.org using the sponsor code CNWREG or by calling 1.800.733.2767. However, walk-in donors are accepted.

The names of all donors will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card each day of the drive. Donors will also get a coupon for a free haircut from Sports Clips.

According to the Red Cross, each donation of whole blood can benefit as many as three people.
