BALD KNOB: Bulldogs return explosive offense

Classification: 2-3A
Coach: Paul Johnston
Last Season: 4-7 (3-4)

The Bald Knob Bulldogs are looking to turn up the heat in 2012.

The team, which made it to the state playoffs last year, hopes to continue this status by taking its place in the top four of the 2-3A conference this season.

This feat won’t be accomplished, though, without a little hard work.

“Our defense will be young, but we have some real talent,” Coach Paul Johnston said. “They will just have to prove themselves.”

Returning starters on offense should offer the Bulldogs the experience and talent needed to win. Senior quarterback Cordell Crisp (6-2, 190) returns after compiling an impressive 6,843 passing yards the past two seasons.

“We are looking to him to have another good year,” Johnston said. “He will be the one setting the tone and leading the rest of the team.”

Bald Knob will be able to prove itself against some tough competition this season. Conference foes Harding Academy, Barton and Riverview will require the Bulldogs to play their best game week to week.

“Before Harding Academy was in our conference, we had a good non-conference tradition with them,” Johnston said. “Now that game means even more to us.”
