BEEBE — The Uncharted literary and art magazine at Arkansas State University-Beebe has been recognized as a Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) First Class magazine by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

This year, schools in 44 states, Washington, D.C., and six countries nominated 456 student magazines. Magazines from middle schools, high schools, and higher education were welcomed for the 2025 contest. A total of 135 magazines were awarded the contest’s highest distinction, REALM First Class.
“Uncharted is the only college publication in the state of Arkansas to get the highest rank,” said Dr. Jodi Whitehurst, associate professor of English at ASU-Beebe. “This attests to the skill and talent of the student writers and artists at ASU-Beebe.” For more information, view the link at asub.edu/uncharted/
The REALM program publicly recognizes excellent literary magazines produced by students with the support of their teachers. REALM is designed to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines that celebrate the art and craft of writing. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, Canada, and American schools abroad are eligible to nominate magazines.
