Antioch Baptist Church celebrates 20 years at location

Antioch Baptist Church recently celebrated 20 years at its current location on Amity Road, with more than 1,200 people in attendance. The event took weeks of planning and coordination among church staff members, hundreds of volunteers and community businesses.

Virco Mfg. donated chairs for the event and Fureigh Electric provided a generator that ran the entire stage. There were hundreds of volunteers who did everything from cooking and setting up chairs to building the stage and serving lunch. Many worked weeks in advance to prepare.

One service was held that day at 9:30 a.m., with everyone gathering outside on the church grounds. The Antioch choir and worship pastor, Travis Sellers, led worship. Dr. Jason Aultman, lead pastor of Antioch, did a great job reminding the church of its history in his sermon. He also challenged those in attendance to look to the future and be willing to follow God’s direction for the church.

Following the service, hamburgers and hot dogs were served to attendees. Members were asked to bring desserts, and an additional table had to be brought in to hold all of the sweets. Bounce houses were available for the children to play on, and Henson’s Island Snow stopped by to offer snowcones to those in attendance.

“God has truly blessed us over the years as a church family. Antioch is actually 93 years old, but for the past 20 years, our facilities have been here at 150 Amity Road,” said Aultman. “We were reminded of all God has done for us over those years. We looked at all He is doing in us and around us now, and we recognized that He is not through with us yet.
