A room that makes the grade

by RaeLynn Callaway

Designing with kids in mind can be fun and this room is no exception.

Madeleine Tanguay is a very artistic and creative young lady. She knew her needs and wishes and drew pictures for me of how she wanted her room designed. Using many of her ideas, we designed a fabulous room with a flair for Broadway.

The beautiful Ombre walls created by Jan Mallet are the perfect backdrop for Madeleine’s custom designed bed. The custom armoire houses her American Girl doll collection but will easily transition to hold a TV or clothes as she gets older.

Along with the built-in bed, we incorporated a desk and dressing area that flows into her custom closet. The black and white damask bedding adds sophistication without competing with the color on the walls and in the framed Broadway posters.

The hanging bubble chair was a must-have. The clear acrylic coupled with the stainless frame and silver cushions give this room a flair for the swanky amid the glamour.

“I love my room,” said Madeleine. “It’s something no one has ever had! When I saw it I felt very excited and wanted to scream!”

“The design is so functional for Madeleine and all her needs,” said her mom, Lynn. “I love that there is so much storage and everything has its place.”
