“We were very young last year,” Coach John Shannon said. “We got off to a slow start, going 0-3 in non-conference play. We then won three of the next four, but we lost our last three. We were in every game except against Monticello.”

Seniors Scott Gowen (5-11, 185) and Colby Taylor (5-10, 160) return at quarterback and running back, respectively. They lead a group of six returning starters on offense.

The Badgers will look to senior William Conley (5-11, 265) and junior Bradley Gann (5-11, 195) to lead six returning starters in the 5-2 defense.

“We will be better this year because we have so many back,” Shannon said. “We are not sure how much better because we are changing conferences, and we do not know a lot about the other teams in the [5A-East]. We are a very strong team – we won the class 5A state weight lifting meet. But we don’t have much speed.”
