11th annual Conway teacher fair presented by Conway Corporation

The Conway Area Chamber of Commerce recently held its 11th annual Teacher Breakfast and Education Fair presented by Conway Corporation.

Each year, approximately 600-800 educators attend the fair, which features a variety of local businesses and groups that set up booths in the high school cafeteria. Ashley Blackshire, an instructional assistant in cosmetology at the Conway High Career Center, was the winner of a massage from Euphoria Day Spa given away by 501 LIFE.

At the Conway Public School Back-To-School Assembly following the fair, Conway Corp CEO Richard Arnold recognized Meagan Fotioo as the 2015-2016 Conway Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year. Fotioo, a first grade teacher at Theodore Jones Elementary, was presented the award and $2,000.

“We are proud to build on the foundation our company was founded on by supporting education in our community,” said Conway Corp CEO Richard Arnold.

Conway Corp was established in 1929 as the community faced the threat of losing Hendrix College and Central Baptist College. At that time, Conway Corp was given the lease on Conway’s electric system. Bonds in the amount of $215,000 were issued and given to each of Conway’s three colleges, along with the public and parochial schools.

“Conway Corporation’s support for education in Conway is profound,” said Dr. Greg Murry, superintendent of Conway Public Schools. “Our district appreciates their ongoing commitment to quality teaching in our schools.”
