Youth Leadership deadline Feb. 18

Applications are being accepted for the next class of the Faulkner County Youth Leadership Institute.

FCYLI is led by graduates of the adult program of the Faulkner County Leadership Institute, founded in 1988. Nearly 500 young people have participated in the youth program, which was started in 1995 and is a cooperative effort of FCLI and school districts in the county.

Participation is open to male and female students in Faulkner County who are in the 10th or 11th grades. Selection for the program is based on demonstrated leadership among peers in school and community settings.

The school-year program includes an overnight retreat and eight monthly sessions, each devoted to a different aspect of the community – from healthcare and education to human services and government. There is also a community service project.

The curriculum is designed to help develop leadership potential in students during their junior or senior year.

The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 18.

For more information, students should visit with their school counselor or visit fclionline.org.
