Hendrix Women’s Basketball drops final game of Thanksgiving Classic

JACKSON, Miss. —  After kicking off the Millsaps Thanksgiving Classic with a 86-70 win over Mississippi University for Women on Saturday, Hendrix wrapped up their time in Jackson with a 73-65 loss to Huntingdon on Sunday afternoon.

Natalie Edmonson led the Warriors with a season-high 16 points with three triples. Ava Knoedl backed that up with 15 points, shooting 3-of-7 from behind the arc and 6-of-12 from the field.

Riley Brady was limited to single-digit scoring for the first time this season but recorded a career-high 23 rebounds — 6 offensive, 17 defensive — which ranks tied for 3rd in program history for rebounds in a single game.

The Hawks took a 16-point lead midway thru the third quarter before Hendrix scored 11 unanswered to trim Huntingdon’s lead to 5. The Warriors trailed by 7 heading into the final period and were able to cut Huntingdon’s lead to 3 with just under three minutes to play, but were ultimately unable to complete the comeback as time ran out.

Hendrix shot 33% from both the field and from distance, and knocked down 12-of-17 attempts from the line.

The loss drops the Warriors to 5-4 on the year. They will return to Conway to host Arkansas Baptist on Saturday. Tip-off at Grove Gymnasium is scheduled for 2 p.m.
