12 Dec 2016 White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund board recognized

The White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Inc. Board of Directors was recently recognized by the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund as an "All Star Board" at its recent Leadership Development Conference in Little Rock.

The White County 18-member board was recognized for its 100 percent financial support of WCSPSF, Inc. Making the presentation to WCSPSF, Inc. board chair Loyal Crawford was WCSPSF, Inc. Executive Director Dan Newsom.

WCSPSF, Inc. board member Kristi Thurmon was also recognized as an outstanding board member for her work as fundraising chair. Her leadership was instrumental in WCSPSF, Inc. raising the funding needed for scholarships awarded this year. Funding for WCSPSF, Inc. scholarships is all privately raised. WCSPSF, Inc. receives no government funding.

WCSPSF, Inc. is one of 62 county affiliates of the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. WCSPSF, Inc. awarded 40 scholarships in 2016 with a combined value of $29,537.50.

Since its beginning in 1999, WCSPSF, Inc. has awarded 546 scholarships with a combined value of $311,161.50.
