21 Aug 2013 Wampus Cat Steak Out on Saturday
The Conway Wampus Cats will kick off the 2013 volleyball and football seasons with its 30th annual Steak Out on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The volleyball showcase begins at 1 p.m. in Buzz Bolding Arena.
At 5 p.m., gates open at John McConnell Stadium. Dinner will be served 5 to 6:30 p.m. The menu includes pork loin, roll, baked beans, chips, tea, lemonade and dessert.
The game schedule:
5:30 – Eighth grade scrimmage
6:00 – Ninth grade scrimmage
6:30 – Introduction of seventh grade players and other athletes
6:45 – High school scrimmage
There will be Wampus Cat apparel for sale and raffle items at the event. Concessions will also be available.
As part of the event, the Conway intermediate, junior high and high schools are raising money for a “pie in the face” contest. The school that raises the most money will have their administrator get a pie in the face.
Admission is $8 for all scrimmage games and dinner, or $3 for the scrimmages only. The event is a fundraiser for the Conway Booster Club.
