Wallace named 'Builder of the Year'

The Faulkner County Home Builders Association recently recognized a few of its members for their outstanding commitment to the organization.

Mike Wallace of Mallard Custom Homes and Contractors was named “Builder of the Year.”

Kim Tyler of Tyler Mapping & Surveying was named “Associate of the Year,” and Tracy Tidwell of ERA Henley Real Estate was named “Affiliate of the Year.”

“Their dedication to promoting the home building industry and contributions to the community will have a tremendous impact on Faulkner County for years to come,” said Christina Galloway, executive officer for the association.

Wallace started building in 1997. Over the years, his company has evolved into Mallard Custom Homes and Contractors, which he owns 50-50 with his wife, Barbara.

The company offers custom home building, remodeling and commercial building or remodeling services. Mike has lost count of the number of custom homes the company has built, but it’s well more than 160. The company can start the process from scratch, including helping clients with design plans and lot selection. Mike grew up in Vilonia, graduating from high school there in 1983. He worked odd jobs until going to Ridout. Barbara, originally from Rockford, Ill., provides the bookkeeping and accounting for the company.

As of Jan. 1, Mark and Tracy Tidwell are the new owners of ERA Henley Real Estate in Conway. Tracy began working in real estate in 2000. She has served previously as executive broker and now is principal broker for ERA Henley Real Estate. Mark began working with Tracy in real estate in 2009 and works with buyers and the marketing team.

“We have an increasing desire to help other agents grow their business and share with them what we have learned,” said Tracy.
