Vynne earns second Golfer of the Month award

Little Rock — Trojan freshman Kathrine Vynne captured her second Golfer of the Month award on Wednesday, announced yesterday by the Ohio Valley Conference, giving her both monthly honors handed out this season. In addition to the monthly awards, the Little Rock Women’s Golf team has also earned the OVC Golfer of the Week award for every week it has competed, capping off an incredibly dominant fall season.

“Another month and another accomplishment to add to Kathrine’s resume as a Trojan athlete. The ladies have accomplished the full house in the fall with a Trojan receiving the Player of the Week or Golfer of the Month every time we’ve been eligible,” head coach Jenna Birch said. “Kathrine had a great month with some great finishes but the one thing that this team is good at is looking forward. So, while we celebrate her and the teams’ achievements this fall, we also look forward and start the process to reaching our goals in the spring.”

Vynne won her second-straight Golfer of the Month award after finishing Top 4 in two events during the month while averaging 70.17 strokes over six rounds. The Denmark native finished second at the Lady Red Wolves Classic after a 1-under score of 215, helping the Trojans to a second-place team finish. She followed that by tying the school record with a 10-under tournament score of 206 in taking fourth at the Diamante Intercollegiate.

Her final round of 65 set a new school record and she helped Little Rock to a third-place team finish. Through 15 rounds this year she leads the OVC in stroke average (71.0) and has finished in the Top 10 at all five events in which she has competed.
